For those of you that own Pivos XIOS DS devices, you’ll find that while this fix might seem a bit difficult, it’s quite easy to perform, and in fact you don’t really have a choice but to follow the procedure below if you want to actually use your device without having problems with the wireless internet connection. Basically what we’re going to show you how to do is reposition the wireless antenna so that the circuit board doesn’t obstruct it’s communication as much. While pretty much anyone can do this, no technical knowledge is needed whatsoever, it will void your warranty if you break the device will attempting this modification. If you don’t feel comfortable with it, we suggest contacting Pivos support to arrange for a unit replacement. Credit goes to aasoror for this guide.
HOW TO FIX PIVOS XIOS DS ANTENNA PLACEMENT IN 5 MINUTES
Requirements
- Very Small Flathead Screwdriver (eye glass size ideally)
- Cutting Knife for Crafting
Step 1: Find a good, clean space to work. Padding the table with a place mat or something would be a good idea. Place the device on your work space with the infrared window facing downwards towards you, and the peripheral connections facing up, away from you.
Step 2: Using a flathead screwdriver, pry the back cover from the device at any opening, as demonstrated in the photo below. The top left corner is a good place to begin prying the device.

Step 3: Remove the lid, thus exposing the device’s main circuit board.

Step 4: Use the screwdriver to push the board upward, out of the safety socket on the top right corner, then slide the cutting knife under the board to keep it elevated.

Step 5: Using the screwdriver again, pop the circuit board out of the casing from the lower left side by gently prying it.

Step 6: Carefully flip the circuit board and place it to the right of the plastic casing, be sure not to sever the connecting antenna wire that will remain attached. Remove any tape that may be holding the antenna wire down. The antenna should now be exposed within the plastic casing.

Step 7: The antenna is attached to the casing with double sided tape. Using the cutting knife, gently peel the antenna from the casing. You don’t want to pull it with your finger, just peel the adhesive until it is displaced.

Step 8: Take the antenna and attach it to the front of the inside casing (it was originally on the right), underneath the infrared window, then secure the antenna connection wire with the tape you had previously removed.

Step 9: Carefully place the main circuit board back into the plastic casing, front end first, and then push down on the rear end to ensure it’s secured.

Step 10: Replace the lid onto the device, be sure that you slip it on the correct side. The easiest way to tell is to make sure that reset buttons align between the bottom of the casing and the main circuit board. You could also pretty much tell from the photo below.

Step 11: The connection should work great now. Enjoy!

Congratulations! You’ve now fixed your Pivos XIOS DS without any help from technical support, I think we can all agree this shouldn’t have been necessary. Here’s a video that might make it easier:
